By actively participating in this class, the student should be able to:

  • Understand the history of imported fire ants.
  • Understand the migration of fire ants to the U.S. and Texas.
  • Learn the biology and be able to identify the Red imported fire ant, Black imported fire ant, Southern (California) fire ant, and the Tropical or Native fire ant.
  • Discuss Fire Ant control and techniques.
  • Understand the Biological Control and Natural enemies (pathogens) of fire ants.
